Chatspin alternative: choose who you meet without Chatspin Plus
Chatspin's Google Play description is plain about where the line sits. Under "Get More Features with Chatspin Plus" it lists, among other things: "Chat with only girls or guys based on your preference." The gender filter, the country filter, HD video and a chat without ads are all on the paid side. On Veilr, saying who you'd like to meet costs nothing, and nothing you buy renews by itself. What Chatspin Plus costs
Chatspin doesn't show a price list we could read, so the numbers come from third-party copies. The Adapty paywall library, which collects subscription screens from mobile apps, shows Chatspin PLUS at $6.99 a week and $19.99 a month. DatingScout gives the same two prices plus a six-month plan at around $14.99 a month. The Google Play listing puts in-app purchases at $4.99 to $99.99 per item, and both Adapty and DatingScout describe those as token packs, from 500 tokens for $5.99 up to 10,000 for $99.99.
Chatspin's current terms say something different. Read on 26 August 2026, they describe tokens that are not bought with money at all: they come from promotions, rewards and contests, have no cash value, can't be transferred or cashed out, and expire after 12 months. Either the terms were rewritten for a new model or the store prices are left over from an old one. From outside, we can't tell which.
The rest of the terms reads clearly enough. A subscription renews automatically at whatever the rate is at the time. Subscriptions, tokens and gifts are final and non-refundable, except where the law says otherwise. Disputes go to binding arbitration under Wyoming law, with class actions waived. The company behind it is Social Media Ventures LLC, which signs its store listings as SMV Co., at a Sheridan, Wyoming address typical of a registered agent.
What people say went wrong
The samples are tiny, so treat them as examples, not statistics: two reviews on Trustpilot, both one star, and five complaints on Xolvie. They tell the same stories. An upgrade was paid for and the account stayed basic, and support took months or never answered. People made an account for the gender filter and still couldn't use it. Accounts were banned with no reason given, paid VIP ones included. A subscription turned out hard to cancel.
Where Chatspin is strong
Size, first of all. The Android app has more than 10 million downloads, 11,224,682 when checked, and a 4.0 rating from about 173,000 reviews; version 5.1.8 came out on 23 June 2026. Similarweb put the website at around a million visits in July 2026. The crowd is international: roughly 17.6% from India, 15% from Georgia and 13.9% from the United States.
Then the masks. Face filters are the first free feature Chatspin lists, and back in 2019 it announced AR filters for video chat in a desktop browser as a world first. A mask gets a shy person through an awkward start with a face on screen that isn't quite theirs. Veilr has nothing like it.
It's also easy to start. You swipe right for the next person, and there's no profile to fill in before your first call. You can switch to voice or text instead of the camera, and you see the other person's age and country before you accept.
The iPhone app, though, is gone. The App Store page for its known ID returns 404, and a lookup finds nothing in four storefronts (checked 26 August 2026). Chatspin hasn't said why. On 6 February 2026 Apple added an explicit ban on random and anonymous chat apps to its review guidelines. Android and the website still work. Veilr has no iPhone app either; iPhone users open it in the browser.
What Veilr doesn't charge for
Who turns up. Put your own gender on your profile and the choice of partner opens, for free. If someone of the kind you asked for is online, Veilr tries them first; failing that, it connects you to whoever is there instead of keeping you waiting. The other side's choice counts just as much as yours. With a Boost pass, your choice becomes a strict filter and you go first in line. Age and country work the same way, as preferences.
Talking across a language gap. Chatspin's crowd is spread over India, Georgia and the United States, among others, and Veilr also runs one worldwide queue per mode. Write in your own language and your partner can read it in theirs; a tap shows the original. A free account comes with a batch of translations and can earn more, and Boost removes the limit. When your declared native languages differ, a call can turn on live captions by itself, in any of 34 languages. A new account gets five minutes free; more come from Boost, a top-up or a reward.
Keeping someone. Press ‘Add to contacts’ during the chat. After a text or voice chat ends, the same button sits on the closing panel and leaves a request for the other person to answer. If you both add each other, the conversation is saved and carries on as a private chat.
Gifts. There are ten free reactions to send, with no coins behind them and no balance to top up.
What happens to your chats
Chatspin's privacy policy says it takes limited screenshots or short video clips from random chats for moderation, runs them through machine learning and large language models, and passes suspected illegal content on to others, NCMEC among them. Veilr doesn't keep recordings of video or voice chats at all. Only a report can lead to one still frame being captured, which our safety team can then review. So both services may look at a picture from your chat; on Veilr, that takes a report first.
Paying, side by side
On Veilr, finding someone and talking cost nothing in any format. What's sold is optional and one-off: Boost in four lengths, from one hour to one month, and extra caption minutes. Nothing renews, so there is nothing to cancel. Refunds are limited, though. As a rule, a Boost that has begun isn't refunded, and an account banned for breaking the rules gets nothing back.

Chatspin takes three rows, and the audience row matters most: in a random video chat, the size of the crowd is the product. What it sells on top of that crowd is the right to choose within it. Veilr gives that choice away as a preference; Boost is what makes it strict.

Is Chatspin free?
The basic video chat and the AR masks are. The gender and country filters, HD video and an ad-free chat are in Chatspin Plus. Veilr charges for neither the chat nor the gender preference; the only paid things are the optional extras, Boost and caption minutes.
Why can't I find Chatspin in the App Store?
The iPhone app has been gone since at least August 2026, and Chatspin hasn't given a reason. It still runs on Android and on its website. Veilr has no App Store app either and opens in the phone's browser.
Can I get my money back from Chatspin?
Its terms call subscriptions, tokens and gifts final and non-refundable unless the law requires otherwise. Veilr sells nothing that renews, but a Boost that has started isn't refunded as a rule either.
Does Veilr have face masks?
No. If an AR mask is what gets you on camera, Chatspin has the better offer there.
